Update Any Sound Card Driver!
In order for you to hear any audio files that you might have on your PC, or to watch videos with the benefit of the audio sound track, your computer needs to have a sound card installed.
That on its own is not however enough to enable you to listen to the audio materials that you are interested in, as your PC needs to be able to communicate with that sound card, so that it can tell it what you want to listen to and make sure that the sound is reproduced properly.
And, in order to do that, you need to have the appropriate sound card driver installed, which is nothing more than a program that allows the two pieces of hardware to communicate with one another.

The sound card driver is crucial as it communicates with your processor so that it can be recognized and function properly. If the problem is a damaged driver, you are probably best uninstalling the damaged version before running a fresh installation, and this should be done after rebooting your machine in ‘Safe’ mode.
Alternatively, you can visit the website of the driver manufacturer to see whether there is an updated driver available for download, although if you are doing this, then you must ensure that you know the exact sound card model that you are using so that you get the correct driver.
